Finding South Bend’s Best Commercial Electrical Contractor

Choosing an electrical contractor is almost like choosing the best doctor for your health. When it comes to your business, you don’t want any liabilities or problems later down the road. Finding South Bend’s Best commercial electrical contractor can be challenging especially if you don’t understand all the technical jargon. Here are some tips to finding the best electrical contractor in South Bend:

Identify your Need First

Because an electrical contractor may be specialized in one area and not another, it is important to identify exactly what you need from the electrical contractor. Is this a major electrical issue or do you just want to update your current electrical system? Do you need a repair? Is something not working? Do you have specialized systems such as security systems, video, wireless networks, or alarms? Keep in mind that the contractor will need to know if this is a small business or a large commercial business. Knowing the answers to these questions will help the electrical contractor to better determine if they can help you or not.

Check into Certifications

Once you have determined if a commercial electrical contractor can assist you with your needs, it is important to determine how proficient they actually are in their trade. The truth is that people can say they know what they are doing all day long, but if they don’t have the certifications and knowledge to back it up, you don’t want to chance it.

Look into their Reputation

Don’t just go by the reviews on their website; look into their reputation in the community. Talk to other places and ask who they have used and what the outcome has been. If you are questioning the reputation of a specific electrical contractor, you can easily look up reviews online. Do your research on the contractor before hiring them. Electrical work is dangerous work and you want to ensure that the electrician you choose knows what they are doing and adequately performs a safe, reliable, and code enforcing job throughout the community.

Ask Questions

Never be afraid to ask questions when you are looking for a qualified electrical contractor. You have the right to know everything that is involved in your business including your electrical work. Here are a few questions to ask as you begin the process of finding a qualified electrician:

  • Do you have warranty? (get it in writing)
  • Is there insurance?
  • What code do you follow when installing? Will it comply with NEC or NEIS standards?
  • Will you fix work that doesn’t meet my standards?
  • Can I have a written estimate before you begin?

Look them up on NECA Connection

NECA Connection has developed a searchable database of electrical contractors for all over the United States. Contractors on the NECA Connection have been proven to provide safe and reliable installations. Most contractors listed in the NECA Connection have completed an apprenticeship program with over 1,000 hours of instruction in the classroom and at least 8,000 hours of on the job training.

Finding South Bend’s Best Commercial Electrical Contractor is worth it to your business. Take the right steps to ensure you have only the best.

I really like your point on identifying your needs before looking for an electrical contractor. That way, you don’t get swept up by the amount of electrical services available to you. You can just focus on your specific problem, and find the best contractor for it. However, it might also be a good idea to hire someone who can also perform jobs you may want in the future.

I appreciate your advice on looking into the reputation of an electrical contractor before you hire them. I would imagine that it would be important to read testimonials and review past clients before you hire anyone. I need an electrician so I’ll be sure to check their reputation before we hire them.

I love your advice to look into the reputation of a contractor in their community in addition to just looking at their online reviews. If you can’t connect personally with people who have used their services you can probably ask for some examples of work they’ve done in the past and use that to get an idea of their quality as well. My cousin has been looking for an electrical contactor, he’ll probably love this advice. Thank you very much!

I had heard that businesses always need a good electrician, to ensure that you can stay open and working consistently. You wrote that when looking for a commercial electrician, you should look into their certifications, to ensure that the professional is well educated and trained to work with these kind of systems. Having that professional is necessary for a business owner, as problems are going to occur and getting them fixed quickly will require that expertise.

I love your advise on finding a professional electrician. Why cannot I find Kemp listed as a NECA contractor?

    Nick,

First, thanks for taking the time to read our blog post.

Second, in response to your question.

    NECA is a great organization.

In fact, the National Electrical Contractors Association is considered by many to be the “Voice Of The Electrical Construction Industry”.

It is such a powerful organization, that any licensed Electrical Construction company can pay to be listed as part of the organization.

That said, paying to become a member of NECA does not validate Kemp Electric’s license, any more than it’s A+ rating on the BBB website.

Rather, it is the Indiana State government that validates our licenses. You are free to search for all of our licensed electrical contractors on the official State website.

It is our lawyers and insurance brokerage firm that insures we are bonded and have the right types of protection in the event of a hazard.
